Fangirl Post: Arrow (The CW Network, 2012-) *SPOILERS AHEAD*

Disclaimer: I'm fresh off episode 3x20, so I'm having a little trouble with coherent thoughts right now. If this post is a little all over the place, my apologies! x

So yeah, if you've been a follower of my blog for any length of time you know I'm a serious fangirl for Doctor Who and Sherlock, both BBC series', both quality programs. It just seems that British TV is so much more interesting and more intricate than American TV, so I've never been one to really gush over our domestic programs-- until today. I am officially Arrow obsessed. Why did nobody warn me how addicting the show is... Or did I not pay attention? Shame on me if that's the case.

Besides the obvious, the eye candy that is Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) the plot is ridiculously complex. I honestly still can't figure out just what the heck is going on with Mr. Oliver Queen. The crime-fighting superhero aspect, I get but the whole desert island, Hong Kong, A.R.G.U.S thing I'm still trying to piece together. That's the kind of series I enjoy. Totally unpredictable and compelling. In. Love. With. This. Series. The fact that some of the recurring guest stars are from Doctor Who probably has nothing to do with it although John Barrowman is uh-mazing. Don't get me started on Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) the chill I.T. girl. That girl sticks her foot in her mouth more times than not, which is why she's so likeable. Gah. I am a total Olicity shipper even though apparently comic book canon is completely different. Le sigh. What can I say, the romantic in me ships everyone and anything.

Do you have thoughts on Arrow or any other suggestions for series' I should be watching? I love spoilers, so feel free to post anything in the comments.

In memory of Yao Fern.

  2. I am a 100% fangirl for this Arrow world and The Flash. That being said, I'm WAY behind on Arrow (shame on me) and all of our conversations are making me all the more aware of this. I'm pretty sure I'll have to forge ahead with Arrow by my lonesome since mom and I aren't getting around to binge-watching it these days. ;) Have you seen Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D? I watched a few of those and they're fun too. CW is also developing a spin-off series with Ray (Atom) headlining as the hero, which might be quite fun.

My only concern for this season of Arrow (I heart spoilers) is Oliver. I just hope he knows what he's doing. I'm not a fan of the good guys going "dark" or potentially bad.

If writers don't make Olicity the endgame, I'll be very unhappy. ;)

    Love this post, Renee.

    1. RISSI! I was hoping you'd stop by after all our chats about Arrow and the Flash. Thank you. Tonight's episode did not disappoint. It was definitely meant for Olicity shippers. Like you, I'm a liiittle worried about the turn his story is taking but hopefully he won't stay with the dark side for long. With friends like Laurel, Dig, and Felicity I really don't think it will be too much of an issue. Plus there's Thea too. I'm actually more worried about her at this point than anyone. Who knows? Like I said, I love a show that keeps me guessing!

As for spinoffs I believe that Arthur Darvill is going to have a role in it too. How rad is that? The entire cast of Doctor Who is making a name for themselves here across the pond. I love it.

I have NOT seen Agents of Shield believe it or not. I'm definitely going to have to check it out. Is there anyone I can ship? Ha ha!

    2. You should SO write more posts like this, Renee. It's such fun to have fangirl posts. :D

I'm pleased this week's episode was everything Olicity fans were waiting for - that makes the wait more worth it. I'm going to *have* to watch the season I haven't yet to be prepped for the eventual DVD release of the current season. If Oliver listens to his team and friends, he should be fine. (Plus, writer's wouldn't do that to us, right!?) As for Thea... I'm worried about her too! Those promos make me nervous.

Yay for spinoffs. Those are always awesome - and anytime Brit actors (particularly DW alums) make it on U.S. TV, it's a good day. Speaking of Arthur and DW, you did see "Amy" (Karen) in the recent Not Another Happy Ending, right? It's quirky, but cute.

Most definitely! I ship the two geeky/tech/genius characters (on SHIELD)... I just hope they're as cute in the current season as they are in the early S1 days. :D

  3. Haha yeah this show is definitely addicting! I watched the first few episodes spread out over a long time since I was waiting for family members but then I decided to watch by myself and binged watched the remaining Arrow eps and The Flash ones too! That being said I agree with every thing in this post!! Felicity is absolutely awesome and I am totally an Olicity shipper! I'm also really hoping Ollie doesn't go too dark, that would really stink!
And I second Rissi's Agents of SHIELD recommendation! Though full warning the first half of season one is a little corny at times but it gets amazing after that! And it ties into the Marvel films which is really cool!
