Like Cats and Dogs...

Oreo says, "Cats hating dogs is too mainstream. I share my personal space and my organic kibble with canines."

A Book for Regency Fans: A Heart's Rebellion by Ruth Axtell (My Review)

The Story:
Dutiful Jessamine Barry is tired of waiting patiently for a man to decide her future. So even though Lancelot Marfleet, second son of an aristocrat, is taking an interest in her during the London season, she refuses to consider him as a suitor. Instead, she's ready to take fashionable society by storm--and finds a rakish young man all too willing to help her do it. When things go too far, Jessamine will learn that the man who is faithful through thick and thin is more worthy than the one who speaks pretty words. But will her disgrace keep Lance from reconsidering her as a wife? And when tragedy strikes and Lance becomes his father's heir and a titled gentleman, will he think she only wants him now because of his title?

My Thoughts:
Coming off a rather lackluster book one I was reluctant to read A Heart's Rebellion, but since Ruth's older books are some of my favorite's I decided to dive in and give this series another chance. I'm so happy to report th…

Let's Talk BBC's LUTHER!

This show. I love it. Why did I not start watching it sooner!?

If you're already suffering through the Sherlock hiatus like I am (it's only been a month *sobs*) you might be looking for something to ease the pain a little and this series definitely fits the bill. From what I've read online there are only 3 seasons of Luther, but from what I've seen (season/series 1), it's definitely addicting and really, realllllly suspenseful! I started watching Tuesday night with my bestie Melissa just because Netflix is boring and we've both seen every romantic comedy or drama available for streaming a million times and... wow... just wow. I should have known since it was a BBC production that I was going to fall in love. I really ought to stop denying to myself that I am a mystery TV fan and learn to start watching more in the genre, this way I'll never be bored again!

Another Winner from Mesu Andrews: In the Shadow of Jezebel (My Review)

The Story:
In a kingdom controlled by cruel and manipulative women, one princess will discover the power of truth and love.

Trained as a priestess in the temple of Baal, Princess Jehosheba strives to please the demanding Queen Athaliah, daughter of Jezebel. But when a mysterious letter from the dead prophet Elijah predicts doom for the royal household, Jehosheba realizes that the dark arts she practices reach far beyond the realm of earthly governments.

Forced to marry Yahweh's high priest in order to further Athaliah and Jezebel's power plays, Jehosheba enters the unfamiliar world of Yahweh's Temple. Can her new husband show her the truth and love she craves? And can Jehosheba overcome her fear and save the family--and the nation--she loves?

With deft skill, Mesu Andrews brings the Old Testament to life, revealing a fascinating story of the power of unconditional love.

My Thoughts:
Confession: I don't read biblical fiction -- unless it's penned by Mesu Andrews. She…

The Paris Connection by Cerella Sechrist Blog Tour (Review, Author Interview, + TWO Great Giveaways!)

The Story:
Sparks are flying in the City of Light

Emma Brooks, single mom and managing director at the leading recruiting firm in Paris, was against their merger with an American company from the start. Not only was her firm losing its autonomy, she was losing her well-deserved promotion to Cole Dorset—a handsome, arrogant interloper from New York!

How did Cole's ex-girlfriend's dream of moving to Paris become his nightmare? Now he's got to find his way in a new country, and the woman showing him the ropes wants to string him up by one. But as he gets to know Emma and her daughter, he realizes Paris may have more to offer than he thought….

My Thoughts:
After having leaving the United States for Paris to marry who she thought was the man of her dreams, Emma Brooks finds herself divorced and raising her 5-year-old daughter on her own. To make matters worse, the promotion she was hoping to snag was offered to a big shot American, Cole Dorset who would rather be any where but F…
