A Christmas Romance Squee Courtesy of Netflix and Shondaland!

Hi guys! It has been a minute since I've had an official freak out over a movie or tv series! You all know how gutted I was over last year's Sanditon (still mad), so the announcement that another regency romance was coming was music to my ears. Move forward to this Christmas Eve and suddenly the new series is almost here! Based on the book The Duke and I by Julia Quinn, and author who many have dubbed a modern day Austen, Bridgerton follows the matriarch Violet and the romantic exploits of her alphabetically named children and the marriage-minded Featheringtons. It's a historical series unlike any I've read, so I'm chuffed to see it brought to life on the small screen.  The cast is absolutely incredible. Julie Andrews narrates it for goodness sake! Among other familiar faces, there are quite a few unknowns to me as well! I watch A LOT of British drama and they tend to recycle the same actors, so I love that this American produced series cast is new to me and also

My Review: Christmas in Three Quarter Time by Rachel McMillan (+ a Bonus Recipe)!

The Story (from Goodreads ): A Delectable Holiday Confection "Felix Huber told me that the only thing wrong with my love story was that it was in the wrong time signature. That if I didn’t find the rhythm and meter aligning with the romance I deserved, I merely needed to allot a tempo change." Freelance reporter Johanna Murphy declared war on charming Felix Huber the moment he stole an exclusive interview that cost her a vital promotion. Now, with time ticking to turn her temporary work visa into a permanent one, she needs a scoop that will capture the magic of Vienna at Christmas to entice international press syndication. Inspired by the delicious lore of Vienna’s famed Sachertorte, she is determined to chase it before any rival reporter. But, the return of an unexpected and unwanted blast from her past drains her determination like a decaf espresso mélange. When Felix proposes they forge an unlikely alliance against this common enemy—for the span of Christmas only—Johanna

The Story (from the publisher ): The night Willa Duvall refuses her fourth marriage proposal, she discovers a forgotten love letter in a crack of her old writing desk. As she seeks to uncover its author and intended recipient, she follows a trail through past secrets and deep family shadows. Is there any hope for this long-ago secret love--and for her to finally have one on her own? Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Revell My Review:   Well, gee. How could I not love a book with such poetic lines as this?   “It was so different with Gabe than with any other man of my acquaintance, for we knew each other as two books whose pages were worn from heavy reading, their lines memorized and recalled in a moment.”   Or this: “Matched souls always find their way back to one another, for they seek refuge in the same place.”  Le sigh. Taken strictly as a romance, this book is everything. There are many different characters in this book and we see different stages of each of their relationships.

Tessa gets a glimpse into an almost-forgotten world, encounters a corrupt, small-town political dynasty, and finds superstition and prejudice at every turn.  She's also drawn to Zeke, the handsome but enigmatic orchard caretaker, who shows her that mountain justice is neither impartial nor just. But battling a conspiracy of silence, Tessa isn't sure if she can trust him. Yet somewhere in the mists of the Blue Ridge Mountains, evil lurks, and a killer is determined to keep the past where it belongs--dead and buried. Amazon  |  Barnes and Noble  |  Kregel My
