TLC Book Tours: The Lady Travelers Guide to Scoundrels and Other Gentlemen by Victoria Alexander
The Story:
Embark on the breathtaking romantic adventures of The Lady Travelers Society in the brand-new series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Victoria Alexander
Really, it’s too much to expect any normal man to behave like a staid accountant in order to inherit the fortune he deserves to support the lifestyle of an earl. So when Derek Saunders’s favorite elderly aunt and her ill-conceived—and possibly fraudulent—Lady Travelers Society loses one of their members, what’s a man to do but step up to the challenge? Now he’s escorting the world’s most maddening woman to the world’s most romantic city to find her missing relative.
While India Prendergast only suspects his organization defrauds gullible travelers, she’s certain a man with as scandalous a reputation as Derek Saunders cannot be trusted any farther than the distance around his very broad shoulders. As she struggles not to be distracted by his wicked smile and the allure of Paris, instead of finding a lost lady traveler, India just may lose her head, her luggage and her heart.

I can't believe as many years as I've been reading romance, I've never read a novel by Victoria Alexander. The Lady Travelers Guide to Scoundrels and Other Gentlemen is a light-hearted, romantic, historical romp that I'm thrilled to have read. I was beginning to despair of ever finding historical romance with characters who made me laugh. I love Julia Quinn's regencies for their humor and have been pining for more feel-good stories, and from what I can tell, Victoria Alexander has the knack for fun!
India Prendergast is out to find the charlatans who've defrauded her older cousin, who has also strangely disappeared. Derek Saunder's is prepared to do whatever it takes to keep his elderly aunt and her friends from going to prison for fraud. The Lady Travelers Society won't know what hit them when their newest "members" India and Derek embark on a journey to bustling Paris.
From the very first meeting, India and Derek clash. With two headstrong people who think they have nothing in common other than a desire to find a missing woman, there's bound to be friction and Victoria Alexander delivers it. A whirlwind story set in the world's most romantic city, this book is one of my favorite historical romances I've read this year. Even with the love triangle, which I usually don't enjoy, The Lady Travelers Guide to Scoundrels and Other Gentleman delivers a sweet, romance that I found hard to put down. I will certainly be looking forward to more stories from the pen of Ms. Alexander.
