My Review:
Every so often a new author comes along with a debut release that I get really pumped for only to be let down by a lackluster story. This year I'm happy to say that with all the new authors I've read, I've yet to be disappointed. I'm confident Rosslyn Elliott, author of Fairer than Morning will make a name for herself as a front runner and must-read author in Christian fiction.
According to the back cover Fairer than Morning is a Christian romance but it is so much more than that. The pretty cover suggests that the pages in between will be a sweet love story but you will be surprised. If anything it is very Dickensian and unveils the good in people where you least expect it and the evil that can lurk in men's souls. I don't think I have ever read a Christian book quite like this and I enjoyed it very much. Will is most unlike the typical hunky and handsome romance hero as you can get but you still route for him and hope he finds love and peace. Everything that seemed to go wrong for Will did go wrong and I wondered how he would ever escape his evil and depraved master. Thankfully this story ends well.
Fairer than Morning didn't just take place in one town but it takes you on a journey. From the farms of Ohio to the burgeoning industrial city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from mansions to abandoned shacks. I never felt I was living in a story world as much as I did while reading this book. The setting, the characters, the story, I recommend it to anyone who loves dramatic, heart stirring reads!
