Happy 50th, Doctor Who (Giveaway Post!!)

I couldn't possibly go without making note that today is the 50th Anniversary of the premiere of the very first Doctor Who episode waaaay back on November 23, 1963. It's really no surprise to me that it has lasted as long as it has and is gaining new fans everyday. The stories and characters are incredible.

My addiction started with the reboot of the series back in 2005 when it first aired on the then Sci-Fi channel. Since then, Netflix has made some of the classic episodes available to stream and BBC has released many of the original stories on DVD so I've seen a bunch of the originals only to be just as impressed by them as today's episodes. The many actors who have played the famed Doctor each bring their own personalities to the role, while still maintaining that intrinsically complex, wibbly wobbly character who is the Time Lord. And have I mentioned the stories themselves? Really, the creators of this series and it's writers and producers are genius. Where would the series be without Daleks (thank you, Terry Nation!) or the mysterious River Song? I can honestly say that after 50 years there is NOTHING predictable about the stories or the characters. It's tough to keep things fresh and interesting these days after 50 episodes, let alone 50 years! Am I right or am I right? I quickly tire of most new TV after a season or two but not so with Doctor Who. I really think this is one story that can exist for 50 more years and still be fresh and exciting.

I'll be watching the Doctor Who 50th, "The Day of the Doctor", tonight and encourage you to check out the series for yourself. In the meantime, check out my giveaway below. I'm giving away a small (valued at $10 or less), super secret Doctor Who surprise! Just leave a comment with your favorite Doctor (mine's probably 3 or possibly 11) along with an email address so I can contact you if you win and you'll be entered to win! Please feel free to share this giveaway on social media too! Good luck!

  6. That is really hard. I have really enjoyed Matt Smith as the doctor and also Dave Tennant. But I think my favorite is Matt Smith as for some reason he reminds me of the first doctor who I really enjoyed. Thanks for the giveaway.
