The Story:
A quilt holds the secret to a killer still at large—and who his next victim will be.

Following an attack that killed her mother and stole her ability to speak, 21‑year‑old Sophia Montgomery has no choice but to accept her estranged grandmother’s offer to return to their family home. Although detective Julian Frazier is working hard on the case, Sophia unknowingly frustrates him because her inability to speak thwarts her eyewitness evidence. The fact that Julian is undeniably attracted to Sophia doesn’t help either, so Julian hides his feelings as concern for a trauma victim and focuses instead on finding the killer.

Little do they know, the clues to solving the case may be right in front of them, displayed in Sophia’s mother’s “special” quilt design. Who will realize the secret Sophia’s unwittingly been hiding in plain sight? When the truth comes to light, will Sophia find her voice again? Or will the murderer—still at large—silence her forever?

My Thoughts:
I'm an avid reader of just about any kind of romantic fiction. When I have to take three weeks off from reading (yeah...three whole weeks!), you better believe I have high expectations for the book that restarts my reading binge. Luckily, that book just happened to be by Robin Caroll, so I knew it was pretty much a given that I would enjoy the story.

Hidden in the Stars was a sweet little treat for this book addict. At just over 200 pages it was just the right length to get me back in the game. Happily I can say Robin used those pages wisely and crafted a suspense-filled yet tender love story that I liked. It was interesting to read a story where the main character communicated through a lip reader since her injuries limited her. I thought it was a tad awkward for a romance, but the ending of the story wasn't completely over-the-top, so it ended up working for me.

The mystery surrounding Sophia and the family quilt in the story was actually quite dark. Don't let the pretty cover deceive you. However, I love that the cover isn't of the traditional pretty cover model staring off into space, surrounded by desolate and dark scenery. Simply gorgeous with the ballet slippers and quilt! As I was saying before I got distracted by the cover, the mystery is pretty darn good! Who doesn't love dance, stage drama, and a hitmen in a book? Even the guys out there who may have stumbled upon this review might enjoy the story! Hidden in the Stars is a quick read that I liked and think you might too!
