TLC Book Tours: Honeysuckle Dreams by Denise Hunter

The Story:
(from the publisher)
Brady Collins is juggling full-time fatherhood with the booming auto repair business he runs out of his barn. His ex-wife's sudden death has shaken him, but the devastating news that follows leaves him reeling: Sam is not his biological son.

When Sam's wealthy maternal grandparents decide they want custody of the child, Brady knows he's in for the fight of his life. Brady's attorney tips him off that one major life change would virtually assure him of winning guardianship of baby Sam at the final hearing: the stability of an impending marriage. And his friend Hope is willing to step in as the loving and devoted fiancée.

Local radio celebrity Hope Daniels has been driven by a solitary goal her entire life, and she's finally been offered her dream job—in Atlanta. Unfortunately, her arrangement with Brady requires her presence in Copper Creek, and she is faced with missing the chance of a lifetime or standing in the way of a dear friend’s dreams.

Both Hope and Brady would give their lives for beautiful Sam. But can they give their trust to one another? With this new novel in the Blue Ridge Romance series, Honeysuckle Dreams shines light on the complicated and beautiful angles of love.

My Thoughts:
Contemporary marriage of convenience stories are often unbelievable, not feasible, but somehow I find them completely romantic. Denise Hunter is one of my go-to authors if I want to get swept away by a saccharine sweet romance. We all need a little fluff in our lives and her stories are just that. It's not an insult to say her books are fluff, in fact they've made Hallmark movies based on her novels. I'd say that's pretty awesome. In that same vein, Hallmark movies are the fluff of TV movies. Uplifting and just so much fun! You don't need to think about your problems, but smile at the perky heroines and heroes with perfect teeth and a heart to match.

Brady Collins and Hope Daniels have known each other for most of their adult lives and surprise their small town by announcing their sudden engagement in hopes of aiding Brady's custody fight for his infant son. The story that unfolds is rather fast-paced and months pass in the space of a chapter. It was a little jarring, but still enjoyable. I very much appreciated that the main character went to therapy and struggled with mental health. It lends some realism to the story that you don't often see in Christian romances. The romance isn't really anything I  haven't seen before, but I really never get tired of watching characters fall in love on the page.

Honeysuckle Dreams is a second story in a series set in the south, but it can be read as a stand alone. You can fairly smell the peaches ripening in the Georgia orchards. Hunter can definitely pen a southern love story! I really think this could be the next Hallmark movie!

~ My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars ~
