My Thoughts on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
I am a huge fan of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series and I've really been anticipating the release of the latest film adaptation, Eclipse. Last night I saw it with my very good friends Rachel and Shayne and I must say that I was not disappointed.
I am thoroughly Team Edward but that does not mean that I don't have a soft spot for Jacob and this movie just solidified those feelings. Without giving too much away I was really glad that Bella, with a little persuasion, finally admitted her feelings towards him...whether they were warm and fuzzy, loathing, or lukewarm you will have to watch the movie to find out! And can I just say I really liked Jasper in this movie? I can't help it, I have a thing for that southern drawl!
As for the big vampire/vampire/werewolf fight scene I was a little sad that it wasn't more realistic in terms of blood and gore. Not that I'm a fan of violence but if has to be in a movie it should at least be slightly believable. I didn't like the "glass" vampires. If you have seen the film you know what I mean.
Overall it was still my favorite of the three...now I can't WAIT for Breaking Dawn!
If you saw the movie what did you think? If you haven't seen it but have seen Twilight and New Moon what did you think of them?
Loved the movie! I prefer realistic violence, blood included, but I think it was true to the books, bc the vamps just sort of shatter there too, if I remember right.

Loved Jasper's drawl, but why oh why do they keep messing up his hair?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the movie! I loved all the books; however, in my opinion, the first two movies sucked. They weren't just bad...they sucked! :) Since I don't have high hopes for this one, I decided to wait to see it until it comes out on DVD...however, I keep hearing that it's actually pretty good and better than the first two...so, we'll see if I break down and go see it. :)
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen the movie yet...one of my best friend's and I are planning on going to the drive-in to see it in a couple weeks when it goes there. It's exciting!!

I'm glad to see from the other comments I'm not the only Team Jacob fan out there. :) I can't wait to see this one! I really liked the other two movies, even if they were a little disappointing in comparison to the books. Movies always are, though.

Tiger, it's been over a year since I've read Eclipse but I definitely remember the fight scene as being a bit more intense but you probably are right about the vampires shattering part.
ReplyDeleteSarah and Bluerose, I really thought this was a lot better than the first Twilight but that's probably not due to the acting or anything, I've just gotten used to the fact that the movies aren't going to be better than the books.
Hannah you're Team Jacob? Well I can kind of see why after watching the movie. I actually like him more in the movies than in the books...maybe it's a visual thing I don't know. :-P
Joy I think Breaking Dawn was my favorite because I'm always out for my happily ever after and even though it was a different happily ever after from anything else I've ever read!

I'm solidly Team Jacob and this movie made me dislike Edward (and even more Robert Patterson). I don't even find him mildly attractive.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy the movie over all and think it was the best of the 3 so far. Looking forward to how they conclude the series.
Oh gosh, I totally agree with Tiger about Jasper's hair... Jackson Rathborne is soooo cute, but they just messed up the hair completely!

I LOVED this movie but agree with you Renee, that the fight scene was a little disappointing. Especially after seeing scenes from previous movies where there was a little more action and blood. I felt for Jacob more in this movie (as I did in the book) but I'm still a Team Edward girl. Something about vampires just draws me closer to them...and a second to Team Jasper! Honestly, Jasper was my favorite in this movie...then Alice...then Edward!

Yeah seeing Jacob suffer "in person" makes me more sympathetic towards him. I'll admit I wasn't too much in the books!
