In Perfect Time by Sarah Sundin ~ A Review
In Perfect Time Wings of the Nightingale, Book 3 by Sarah Sundin Copyright 2014 Revell Books ISBN: 9780800720834 |
The Story:
Two hearts are about to learn the rhythm of love
Bold, sophisticated, and coy, Army Air Force flight nurse Lt. Kay Jobson collects hearts wherever she flies, leaving men pining in airfields all across Europe. So how can ruggedly handsome C-47 pilot Lt. Roger Cooper be all but immune to her considerable charms? In fact, he seems to do everything he can to avoid her.
Still, as they cross the skies between Italy and southern France, evacuating the wounded and delivering paratroopers and supplies, every beat of their hearts draws them closer. Can they overcome the fears and misunderstandings of the past in order to take hold of the future?
Sarah Sundin seamlessly weaves together emotion, action, and sweet romance into a tale that transcends time and calls us to believe in the power of love.
My Thoughts:
While Sarah Sundin's Wings of Glory still holds the place as my favorite WWII-set series, she once again knocked it out of the park with her Wings of the Nightingale series. In Perfect Time, the last installment of the series, follows the trio of Army Air Force flight nurses who were first introduced in With Every Letter. In Perfect Time is Kay Jobson's story and frankly, the one I was looking forward to the most!
Kay is the a flirty, fun nurse to her friends and her patients, but she's hiding pain from an emotionally abusive childhood. Lt. Roger Cooper also has a painful past he plans to keep well hidden. He does everything to maintain a safe distance between himself and the beautiful flight nurses, especially Kay, the red-headed beauty with the reputation. In spite of both vowing not to get involved with each other, God has other plans.
With her knack for writing heartfelt dialogue and creating characters, I don't think there is anyone else who can come close to Sundin when it comes to penning uplifting and inspirational World War II Christian fiction. As with her other stories, Ms. Sundin doesn't shy away from writing characters who are flawed and struggling with their faith. Coop and Kay could well be any modern day couple. In Perfect Time is the almost perfect conclusion to another great series. I can't wait to read the next book from the pen of Sarah Sundin!
