Everything Austen Challenge: Watch 1995 version of Pride & Prejudice
As you may know I love Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice is my favorite of her books. That said I love just about every movie version that I have seen of Pride and Prejudice and I don't think there's a Mr. Darcy that I haven't liked!
Since I've almost completed the Everything Austen Challenge by watching both the 1995 version and the 2005 film versions of the book, I've decided it was time to celebrate with a little fun. Here are my Top 3 Darcy's, two from different versions of Pride and Prejudice and one from Pride and Prejudice with a twist, Lost in Austen. I would love it if you would share your favorite Austen hero and include a link to his picture so we can ALL drool all over the place! :-P

My favorite Austen heroes would be Darcy, Knightley and Colonel Brandon. If I absolutely HAD to pick just one, it would be Darcy.
ReplyDeleteI've seen these three movies and think the 2005 movie is the best of the bunch. Matthew Macfadyen IS Fitzwilliam Darcy! I think Colin Firth is adorable, but I did not like his portrayal of Darcy at all. Elliot Cowan was a little better.
I love love love this photo of Matthew Macfadyen and Keira Knightley: http://tinyurl.com/ygqkurz
*sigh* I adore Colin Firth as Darcy.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Lost in Austen--sounds like that should be my next Netflix choice. :)
I'm not sure who's the ultimate Darcy!
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of what makes these guys look so romantic is their clothing. No jeans and T-shirts for them! :)
Darcy is tops (of course) and Colin Firth is my favorite Darcy of all.
ReplyDeleteI also loved Knightley ~ I guess he'd come in second place. My 3rd place would probably be... Edmund. lol He was so sweet. :o)
Wow yeah it was hard for me to pick whom I liked best out of all the men who've played Austen heros but men who play Darcy will always win out! However I did like Dan Stevens as Edward Ferrars in Sense and Sensibility! :-P
ReplyDeleteXOXO~ Renee
Love all of these guys! :) And yeah, Darcy is definitely my #1 favorite Austen hero...maybe Knightley coming in at #2. Looking forward to the new Emma in a few weeks on PBS!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Austen hero is Edward from Sense and Sensiblity.
ReplyDeleteHugh Grant played him in the movie. :D
Now, please don't hit me but I haven't figured out why everyone loves Darcy so much. Of course, I've only read the book once but I have seen different versions of P&P. Oh, just watched Lost in Austen this past week..really liked it. :) But I guess I'm missing something....
Colin Firth as Darcy....be still my beating heart! I haven't seen any of the other P&P movies except for the 1995 version, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Makes me wanna yank out my DVD and watch it tonight to bring in the new year.... :o)
ReplyDelete@ Ruth- the new version of Emma is pretty good! I think you'll like it!!!!
ReplyDelete@ Angie- Hugh Grant did do a nice job playing Edward but Dan Stevens is still my fave LOL!
@ Christy- Oh yeah what better way to ring in the new year than with Mr. Darcy!!!
Happy 2010 all!
XOXO~ Renee
