About the book:
An epic journey of intimacy, rejection, betrayal . . . and hope.

God gives Hosea a difficult command-marry a prostitute in order to show God’s people the nature and depth of His love for Israel. When Hosea goes to Israel to proclaim the Lord’s message, the woman God directs him to marry turns out to be his childhood friend Gomer. He finds her broken and abused, unwilling to trust Hosea or his God. But when marrying Hosea becomes her only means of escape, Gomer does what she’s good at-she survives. Can Hosea’s love for God and God’s love for Israel restore Gomer’s broken spirit?

With her powerful combination of in-depth research and masterful storytelling, Mesu Andrews brings to life one of the most complex and fascinating stories of love and forgiveness in the face of utter betrayal.

My Thoughts:
My original Goodreads review of, "Excellent, excellent, exxxceeeellent!", probably won't be taken seriously if I post it here but that's exactly how I felt about this story. Usually I shy away from biblical fiction, but I've learned Mesu Andrews is such an amazing talent that her tales are second only to the original Scriptures. Love in a Broken Vessel proves that she's not just a flash in the pan, she has true staying power and has certainly earned a top spot on my "Must-Read Authors" list! This story is full of such rich detail and raw emotion. I absolutely loved "seeing" Israel and what it may have been like to live during such perilous times. I have never been to Israel but I certainly felt as if I'd been on a journey by the time I turned the last page. All the best stories take you on a journey and leave you feel like you learned something about yourself and life and this book did that and more. Highly recommended for fans of biblical fiction or just romance in general.
