Synopsis
: During the reign of King Henry VIII there lived two women, who would witness history in the making. One the devout Anne Boleyn catches the eye of the king and the power she holds that will change history. Rose, a peasant of the street is rescued by Sir Thomas More, under whose roof comes to a closer relationship with God, not realizing the trouble that will change to world. Both of their lives even though they are separate, become connected to tell the story of angels and kings and the beginnings of the Reformation of a Church and the people through one Book.

My Review
: In the Shadow of Lions by Ginger Garrett is a wonderful rendition of the story of Anne Boleyn. Instead of the power seeking seductress, she is the devoted servant of God and king. It's always refreshing to see a different take on what most of us have learned from other books, movies, etc. Even though this is very different from what I usually read it's very dramatic and interesting. At the beginning the Scribe really catches you and to be frank he scared the daylights out of me at first! This is a great historical fiction that really brings the characters to life. I look forward to reading Books 2 and 3 in this series!

  1. Renee,

You are most welcome, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :o)

I will be honest that I wasn't that crazy about the Scribe scenes in this book. In book 2, they are much better, in my opinion. It also helped to have the author notes at the end regarding her research and to have some of the misconceptions explained. Big help!

Enough of my jabber....really glad you liked the book!
