Birthday Giveaway #4: The Hope of Refuge (An Ada's House Novel) by Cindy Woodsmall

Thanks to the lovely folks at Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers I have TWO brand spankin' new copies of Cindy Woodsmall's Amish fiction book, The Hope of Refuge, Book 1 in the Ada's House series. Both books have signed bookplates on the inside cover which makes them extra nice! Since I have two copies that means two winners so read the rules below to see if you're eligible to enter!

The Hope of Refuge (An Ada's House Novel) by Cindy Woodsmall

Raised in foster care and now the widowed mother of a little girl, Cara Moore struggles against poverty, fear, and a relentless stalker. When a trail of memories leads Cara and Lori out of New York City toward an Amish community, she follows every lead, eager for answers and a fresh start. She discovers that long-held secrets about her family history ripple beneath the surface of Dry Lake, Pennsylvania, and it’s no place for an outsider. But one Amish man, Ephraim Mast, dares to fulfill the command he believes that he received from God–“Be me to her”– despite how it threatens his way of life.

Completely opposite of the hard, untrusting Cara, Ephraim’s sister Deborah also finds her dreams crumbling when the man she has pledged to build a life with begins withdrawing from Deborah and his community, including his mother, Ada Stoltzfus. Can the run-down house that Ada envisions transforming unite them toward a common purpose–or push Mahlon away forever? While Ephraim is trying to do what he believes is right, will he be shunned and lose everything–including the guarded single mother who simply longs for a better life?

  1. Oooh! I really enjoyed the third book in Woodsmall's first series, and I would LOVE a chance to win this one! :) Kav's review definitely made me want to read it!

As for birthday cake, my favorite by far is the Texas chocolate cake my grandma makes!!! :D She makes the frosting, too, and she always decorates it special for our birthdays. :) She has a specific recipe for the cake, which is delicious!

Thank you once again for your generosity, Renee!

  3. Oo, oo, oo Renee!!! This is such an exciting giveaway! Lol...her first series was awesome, like Michelle said. I haven't found this anywhere near me curiously though....so it'd be really cool to get to win it so I could read it! Otherwise, I'm going to have to start checking online prices, which is okay too, but it'd be fun to win! Lol!

I have three favorite cakes! Ha! Is that allowed? For straight out birthday cake, it's got to be marble. My mom makes a mean marble cake and it's been my b-day cake flavor for who knows how many years straight now. The other two are two cakes my grandma makes, like Amber : ) One is French Ribbon Cake and the other is Boston Cream Pie Cake. I don't know if anyone knows what these are or if they've had them before, but man does my gram know how to make 'em!! Let me know if you need/want an explanation about what these are : )

Thanks for this truly exciting week, Renee!!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!
