My Review:

I'm as big a fan of the western romance as the next girl but it all gets repetitive sometimes. I'm happy to say that Mona Hodgson's latest book, Too Rich for a Bride is unique. While the setting, a mining town in Colorado, is kind of humdrum the characters are not. I loved that our hero, Tucker Raines, was a traveling preacher turned ice man. You might expect a preacher to pop up in a Christian romance but not a purveyor of ice and ice boxes. That said, the romance felt a bit cold (no pun intended) and I remained disconnected throughout. Although each of the characters were complex and flawed, which I loved, the romance did not work for me. The little that we saw of Ida's sisters and their husbands left me wanting to know what happened next in their lives rather than what would happen between Ida and her beaus. Towards the end of the book the man whom Ida chose even admitted that they didn't get to spend much time together which led the conclusion to feel a bit forced. If there is going to be another book in this series I really hope that Ms. Hodgson puts more of Ida and her husband into the story because they are great characters.
