Best Books of 2010!

Ah yes it's that time of year again time to recap on all things that we've accomplished in the year and to make plans and set goals for a new year. For this blog I participated in three reading challenges, two I completed and one I'm working on but will complete before the 31st. In the process I've read a ton (literally) of great books. It is always hard to choose just a few of my favorites since I often read so many awesome books and this year a lot of books got 5 star reviews from me. Since I didn't include any young adult fiction on last year's Top Ten list I'm including a few this year that I thought were incredible. It was so difficult to choose but if you're an author and I didn't feature you or your book on my list PLEASE don't be offended. You know I loved your book if I gave you a five star review on here or on Goodreads. I don't give 5 stars to just any book ya know, it has to be AWESOME! ;-)

Here they are in no particular order:

Courting Morrow Little by Laura Frantz (Historical Christian Fiction/Romance)

Sons of Thunder by Susan May Warren (WWII Christian Fiction)

Nightshade by Ronie Kendig (Contemporary Christian Fiction/Suspense)

Head in the Clouds by Karen Witemeyer (Historical Christian Fiction/Romance)

A Hope Undaunted by Julie Lessman (Historical Christian Fiction/Romance)

Code Triage by Candace Calvert (Contemporary Christian Fiction/Romance)

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (Young adult fiction/dystopian)

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater (Young adult/paranormal fiction)

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead (Young adult/paranormal fiction)

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer (Young adult/paranormal fiction)

This list does not even come close to containing all of my favorite reads of 2010. If you're interested, visit my Goodreads profile to check out my five star picks! To see a list of my Top Ten Christian Historical fiction books visit my earlier post @ Christian Historical Fiction.

  1. Great list Renee! I have Linger but I haven't read it yet b/c I accidentally stumbled across a major spoiler. So now I'm gonna hold off reading it until right before Forever comes out.

I won Head in the Clouds but I haven't read it yet. Sounds like it's gonna be great. And I really need to read a Laura Frantz book. I hear great things about her all over the Net.

  2. Those are some pretty good books on that list. A few of those I got to read, but the others, not so much. I guess I need to read more YA in 2011, and since you gave it 5 stars, I know they'll be good.
I've seen some of the new releases for 2011 and they look FANTASTIC!! You could say I'm excited for the New Year and all the great reads it will bring;)
So, did Santa bring you everything on your list? I sadly didn't get any books, but I did get money, which is just as good, cause then I can go out and buy the books I've been waiting to get me hands on. Have a great New Year, Renee!
    Love Ya,
    Ashley

  5. I just started Candace Calvert's first book, so it looks like I have a lot to look forward to if her third book made it on your list!

Great picks, and I haven't read a single one! I started Sons of Thunder, but only made it about 4 or 5 chapters, and didn't pick it back up. Looks like I may need to rethink because you and a couple others have it in their top ten!

  8. @ Joy it's funny how you say you stumbled across a spoiler. I actualy look for them, yeah I'm one of those people who reads the last few pages first! Anyways I hope you can read Linger b/c it was really good.

@ Ashley I'm glad to see you again and I see you've been busy reviewing for the end of the year back at your blog. ;-) You're right though there are sure to be a TON of great books coming out in the new year. My WL is already overflowing!

@ Julie Your book was easy to include on the list, I didn't debate it! Happy New Year to you and your family too.

    @ Ruth me too!!

@ Christy- I loved Critical Care but Disaster Status and Code Triage were my favorites so I hope you like 'em!

@ Laura- Well you just blessed my socks off by saying I made your top five list of readers! I just love you and Julie, you're always so nice and on top of all that you give me great stories to read. ;-)

@ Casey- I don't even want to think about how hard it's going to be for me to make my list next year. I know it's going to be difficult especially since there are a ton of new authors out there whose books I can't wait to read!

Thanks everyone for visiting today! <3

    XOXO~ Renee
