Synopsis: After their father and mother's demise at the hands of Octavian, Selene and Alexander are taken to Rome. Living with Octavian's sister, they come to rely heavily on one another and hope that they will one day return to Egypt. The ambitions and jealousies of those around them constantly assault them. Raised alongside Octavian's children they are given educations and everything to prepare them to make advantageous matches when they come of age. Selene learns that Roman life is very different from her own, while facing tragedy, deceit, and finally love at the tender age of 15.

My Review: Cleopatra's Daughter is a wonderful story of Selene and Alexander, twins whose father and mother were the famed Marc Antony and Cleopatra, growing up in Rome in the household of Octavian. It follows the first 5 years of the siblings in Rome.

This book has great details. I would never have thought that children, even royalty would have such educations by the age of 10...but then again when the average life expectancy was 30 years, time wasn't wasted. As for the scenery in the book, it's breathtaking! Michelle describes it so well it's like I was at the baths, watching a trial, or at the circus! This was such a great story I couldn't put it down! I think both teens and adults will like this book...especially those who love history!
