AND NOW...THE FIRST CHAPTER:

My Review:
As a fan of young adult/teen fiction and Christian fiction I really like this series by Kim Vogel Sawyer. In the latest installment of the Katy Lambright series we once again meet up with the young Mennonite girl who is the first of her community to attend high school. What I like about it is the fact that not only do we learn about a girl who is different from the crowd in her style of dress and culture but she is still a teen and going through what most of us as teeneagers went through. She has to deal with fitting in, her first crush, and a potential stepmom. We even start to see a little bit of that teenage angst. Younger readers will definitely be able to relate to Katy and her desire to keep her close relationship with her dad and the develepemt of her crush on a boy whom her family would not approve. Overall this is a nice story and would be a quick read. The only thing that I'm unsure of is this book is marketed as teen fiction when I think it would most likely appeal to middle school aged kids, not older teens. If you're looking for something for a young tween to read you might want to get her this series!
