From the publisher:
HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO?

All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far...and almost doesn't make it back.

John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge -- and over....

My Review:
When looking for a new author to read I stumbled across Jennifer Echols and her 2009 release, Going Too Far. I can definitely see why this book has so many 5 star reviews and I am not sad that I spent good money on this. It's terrific!

I'll admit that I've always been a pretty good girl so I didn't think I would be able to relate to bad girl, Meg but once again surprisingly I could. Not in some of the things that she did like drugs, alcohol and casual sex but what made her do those things like frustration with her 'rents and a pretty tough situation that I've never had to face but would imagine would make me do some pretty crazy things too. And wow can you say angst? This girl definitely has it down and I can't say as I blame her!

Now for Officer John After...all I can say is why doesn't my small town have a hunky police officer like him? He's pretty much the total opposite of Meg and while I find it a teeny bit weird to picture a 19 year old as a police officer it does work for this book. He has some issues from his past the he's dealing with too, which I think makes him the perfect compliment to Meg's character.

It's great to read a romance where everything isn't "happy happy happy," all the time and the rough spots of life aren't skimmed over. There is some strong language, drug/alcohol use, and mention of sex so if that bothers you, you might want to stay away from this book. I however loved Going Too Far and will definitely be reading Forget You, Ms. Echols's latest book and from reviews I've already read it will be just as good!

Comments

  1. Thank you for posting this review. I was mainly drawn to reading it, because it's set so close to where I live. I was curious how the people were described and all. What few books and movies set here(it seems) have us portrayed without a lick of sense! :)
But around here there are lots of really young police officers.
