The Lost Valentine, Hallmark Hall of Fame
From the Hallmark site:
During World War II, Navy Lt. Neil Thomas bids Caroline, his pregnant young wife, farewell at Union Station. Before their son is born, Neil’s plane goes down in the Pacific and he’s declared MIA.
Caroline is devastated, but her love never dies. And for the next 65 years, Caroline (Betty White) returns to Union Station on the anniversary of her loss to salute his memory. When a TV journalist (Jennifer Love Hewitt) learns of the touching story, she sets out to investigate what happened to Neil 65 years earlier. Caroline’s grandson encourages Caroline to cooperate, and soon the reporter and young man fall in love.
Viewers will embrace Betty White and Jennifer Love Hewitt in this moving story of love lost and love found. The Lost Valentine, based on the book by James Michael Pratt, is directed by Darnell Martin, teleplay by Maryann Ridini Spencer and Barton Taney.
My Thoughts:
Ok people I am either the most sappy person I know or this movie was just that good. I think I started crying five minutes into the film. I started this movie last night since I had to put off watching it to finish Downton Abbey on Sunday and it was oh so good! I must warn you that this is one of the most emotional movies I've ever seen on TV, the theatres etc. Grab yourself a box (or two) of tissues because you're going to need them.
For me, the best Hallmark films are the romances like The Magic of Ordinary Days which has been my favorite since I saw it almost ten years ago and now this one. The Lost Valentine tells two love stories, one that started during WWII and a new romance between a reporter and a physical therapist. This is one of the sweetest love stories that I've ever had the chance to watch and I recommend it to EVERYONE! It's squeaky clean. There's one war scene with some shooting and blood, it's nothing extremely graphic...but you will cry. Just sayin'. ;-)
Betty White is amaaaazing in this movie. Most people associate her with Golden Girls and other comic roles on tv and the silver screen but this role is quite dramatic and just proves why this lady is one of the most respected actresses around. Everything about The Lost Valentine is moving, gut-wrenching, and shows the power of love. Highly recommended!
Fun stuff: Neil and Lucas are eye candy!!

My mother watched this and I missed it! And that makes me sad because it's so hard to find these Hallmark movies. Sigh . . .
ReplyDeleteHi Hannah! Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well and missed this movie! Maybe they'll play it again, they've done that before!
ReplyDeleteRenee Ann- I know what you mean about finding the Hallmark movies! I don't even think my local Hallmakr carries them...go figure! I have seen some pop up on Amazon though once they're a few months old so maybe you can get a hold of a copy.
XOXO~ Renee

Hi Renee,
ReplyDeleteGreat review.
Would love to see it.
How do you get Hallmark to let you review for them? Is there a special place to sign up to review DVDs for Hallmark? Really would like to know. Thanks a lot,
