A Review for Pop Drinkers: SodaStream Fountain Jet Home Soda Maker

Image
Isn't it a cute cherry red? Confession: My family and I drink a lot of pop -- like 2 liters per day a lot. It's pretty safe to say that we love the fizzy stuff. You'll always find a bottle of Mountain Dew or Coca-Cola chilling in the ice box if you stop by. It's not the greatest thing to drink if you're watching calories or trying to eat healthy, but it's the one thing we can't seem to resist. Since we're such big fans of carbonated beverages, when the SodaStream Fountain Jet maker popped up on my Kindle's lock screen as a $20 Lightning Deal (seriously people, if you have a Kindle check to make sure you receive the ads, past deals included a Keurig Brewer with K-Cups for $20!) I couldn't resist. I figured for 20 smackers I wouldn't be losing much if the fam didn't love the machine. I'm glad that I only paid the 20 and not the full price of $79. Overall, I'm not impressed with SodaStream.

As a child, I loved to nestle in someone’s lap after dinner at my grandparents’ ranch while one story teller after another spun yarns from the Great Depression. “I tell you now, Boats, back in 1933, times was hard,” signaled the recounting of an adventure softened by subsequent years of prosperity. Great-uncle Boats got his nickname from the impressive size and shape of his shoes. In addition to those extraordinarily long, thin feet, I inherited my family’s love for telling

Doc Martin Series 6 (MSRP: $39.99) DVD Overview: He’s surly, tactless, self-centered, and uptight—but he’s the only doctor in town. Even on his own wedding day, Dr. Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes, Men Behaving Badly ) is all scowls. Then following a calamitous honeymoon, he and Louisa (Caroline Catz, DCI Banks ) must learn to live together, raise a child, and manage two careers. It’s a big adjustment for both, especially Martin, who’s unaccustomed to clutter and noise. And yet he’s still not as picky as their OCD manny. Factor in the Doc’s usual string of batty patients—including a hypochondriac, a hoarder, two elderly tattoo artists, and a bumbling constable with a string of self-inflicted injuries—and Martin is soon more ill-tempered than ever. Plus, his crippling blood phobia is back, and his ghastly mother (Claire Bloom, The King’s Speech ) picks a bad time to show up at the Ellinghams’ door. With much at stake, Martin turns for advice to his aunt Ruth (Emmy winner Eil

New Year, New Books to Read!

Image
How is it that it is 2014 already? I don't know about you, but I just got used to writing 2013 on all of my stuff. That may be a bit of an exaggeration but still time sure does fly, doesn't it? I hope you all enjoyed time with friends and family last night, or if you're like me, a night under nice, warm covers. I thought I'd start 2014 by doing something completely different this year. In the past, I've featured lists of books that I enjoyed in the previous year. While those are always fun, I'm going to take a look ahead this year by featuring a list of not yet published books (Christian fiction and general market) that I'm looking forward to reading in the coming days. Let me know what you think and please feel free to share what you're looking forward to reading in 2014 or maybe a link to your Best Books of 2013 list. Ten Books to Read in 2014 in no particular order...
