Teen Fiction/Romance
From the publisher:
Ever since Viola's boyfriend broke up with her, she has spent her days silently wishing—to have someone love her again and, more importantly, to belong again—until one day she inadvertently summons a young genie out of his world and into her own. He will remain until she makes three wishes.
Jinn is anxious to return home, but Viola is terrified of wishing, afraid she will not wish for the right thing, the thing that will make her truly happy. As the two spend time together, the lines between master and servant begin to blur, and soon Jinn can't deny that he's falling for Viola. But it's only after Viola makes her first wish that she realizes she's in love with Jinn as well . . . and that if she wishes twice more, he will disappear from her life—and her world—forever.
Jackson Pearce spins a magical tale about star-crossed lovers, what it means to belong . . . and how important it is to be careful what you wish for.
The heroine is a 16 year old girl who is just looking to fit in but doesn't think she ever will. Jinn is the genie sent to grant her wishes...problem is Viola doesn't seem in a hurry to make them and all Jinn wants to do is get back to his own world. What ensues is just a super sweet story of a girl and a boy who are destined to be star-crossed lovers. As You Wish made me laugh and cry and wish for a "jinn" of my own! This is definitely going on my "keeper" shelf! I can't wait to read what Jackson Pearce comes out with next!!
Note: This book contains a scene of underage drinking and some mild language.

My Review:
As You Wish is one of the cutest, most interesting, and totally different YA romances that I've read in a REALLY long time! I absolutely loved it! Instead of the whole vampire, werewolf, witch thing that is uber popular in teen fiction right now, this book instead features a genie...did I mention he's a CUTE genie? ;-)
